Hasna Jasimuddin Moudud, daughter of famous poet Jasim Uddin, passed M.A in English from University of Dayton and attended International Writing program in 1968 at University of Iowa as a young poet and translator. She has taught at University of Dayton, University of Iowa, Scarsdale High School and University of Dhaka. Hasna has also addressed seminars on Bengali literature, Women and Environment at Heidelberg University, Harvard University, Welesley College and University of Oxford.

Hasna's marriage with barrister Moudud Ahmed, former Prime Minister and Vice President of Bangladesh, moved her toward politics which resulted in twice being elected to the Parliament. Her passions include poetry, women and environment. She leads a movement on environment and coastal conservation which has won her the United Nations Environment Programme 1992 Global 500 environmental award.

Her publications include Folk Tales of Bangladesh, co-translator; Selected Poems of Jasim Uddin and Women in China.

Currently Hasna is a visiting Fellow at Queen Elizabeth House at University of Oxford.
